Saddle up your horses we've got a trail to blaze
Through the wild blue yonder of God's amazing grace
Let's follow our leader into the glorious unknown
This is a life like no other-this is the Great Adventure

In Texas, it's blueblonnet season and tradition has it to take pics of kiddos plopped in the middle of them. Maggie and I decided that we would join that tradition, but didn't realize we would have to risk all of our lives to get them. Lady Bird Johnson many years ago wanted to beautify the highways and byways with wildflowers, so the flowers are by busy highways. As we found on the internet the best place to take pics was by an interstate and a quarry with a sign reading "warning: blasting in progress". We found a little better space to quickly snap some shots but had to push the kids in the car because an interesting man started coming toward us. This is one hilarious tradition.
The second part of our vacation included date time with Paul and I. We took Elli to her first days of Keystone Daycare and I had a harder time with it then she did! She absolutely loved her new friend, Sebastian, and "snow time". Meanwhile, Paul and I got to enjoy mogul skiing and took a caterpillar a few times to the tippy top of the hill to catch some fresh powder. The one time we went up, it was complete white out conditions with snow, which was eery to me, but skiing down in it...I forgot that I couldn't see 10 feet in front of me...amazing. The economy has hit the ski resorts hard, but that meant no lines for us...fresh snow and no lines...once in a lifetime trip! On our day dates, Paul and I took many breaks because we discovered chocolate croissants at one of the warming houses. We really had one super duper trip and in one day we went from long underwear to shorts in Texas.
We just got back from one the best vacations ever! Julia and I have been wanting to meet for a ski week for many years and it finally worked out this year! We had a blast taking turns skiing (while other babysat), hiking, cross country skiing (which Elli slept the entire time in the sled strapped to one of us), playing cards/crazy game of bunko and even went sledding with Jeremy and Kim and kiddos! Elli and Will got their first season pass for Keystone and we were pretty proud parents! We couldn't ask for better weather, and the whole week was amazing!
Elli was begging to go skiing so we consented...ok, not really, but she did smile while skiing and even danced at the end (pictured on bottom). She tried to ski/walk on her own, but considering the boots were 2 sizes too big, it was difficult. (the keystone instructor said she was the smallest kid he had ever seen skiing) We were so proud of our little skiier...she did awesome!
